What would make a better "Chapter Two" than the story of when Connor made his grand entrance into this world? And dont worry, I will spare you all the nitty-gritty details.
First off, Connor's due date was September 4, 2010. And if you know us at all, you know that my perfect little boy wasnt born until September 14, 2010. (Stubborn just like his Mommy and Daddy...) Me, being the impatient person that I am, I wanted him out. I wanted to meet my son I had tried so long for. I tried nearly every trick and tactic in the book to go into labor. All for nothing. I technically was in labor for weeks, but not enough to progress me into active labor.
When Connor's due date came and went, with no sign of him coming out, it was time to give him the eviction notice! I was to be induced on September 14, 2010. Ten days after his due date. True to his odd sense of humor, I went into labor the night before the induction.
When I arrived at the hospital on the 14th, they let me labor on my own as I had requested. I really wanted an all natural birth with no drugs and no epidural. That didnt work! Connor's heart rate dropped with every contraction and started staying down in between the contractions. So, I was immediately taken for an emergency C-Section. (So not what I wanted!!!)
On September 14, 2010 at 1:51pm, I was introduced to the most amazing, beautiful little boy I have ever laid eyes on. Weighing a mere 7lbs 5oz and only 20 inches long, I immediately fell in love with my son, Connor Eston Scharf.

Our Struggle
Well for my first ever blog post, I figured I would start you out with a wee bit of history. (No pop quizes, I promise!)
This August marked 4 years being married to my best friend and, allow me to get mushy and cliche', my soul mate. Andrew and I started dating back in the summer 2005 when he had just graduated High School and I was on my way to becoming a Senior. It pretty much becomes the same old song and dance. We moved in together, got married and enjoyed our marriage, blah, blah, blah. Where it becomes interesting is when we made the monumental decision to expand our little family. To have a baby.
We both knew it would be no cake walk for us to conceive. I have a condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS. To save you from the boring details and medical jabber, Ill give you the "Readers Digest" version. Basically, I dont have cycles and thus cannot get pregnant without medical intervention. So, after about a year of "trying" on our own, we pulled out the big guns and made an appointment to see a fertility specialist.
During our time with the specialist, I had taken countless daily fertility pills, injections, blood draws and ultrasounds. We were even "lucky" enough to do two rounds of IUI. (Intrauterine Insemination) We did, however, conceive on the first IUI attempt, but miscarried only days later. And the second IUI was just plain depressing. After everything was said and done, Andrew and I had spent over $11,000 out of pocket, (as our insurance did NOT cover infertility treatments) and 19 months trying to have a baby all for nothing. We were both crushed! We couldnt go through it any longer, we had no more money to throw at it, and the heartbreak was becoming too much. We just wanted to be parents. We figured when the time was right we would look into adoption.
Here is when the story becomes exciting!
Two months after Andrew and I had "given up" the most amazing thing happened.....we got a surprise positive pregnancy test three days after Christmas 2009! We didnt even "try!" We didnt have medical intervention! It was truly a shock.
And that is the beginning of Connor's story......
